The Bartow County Library System welcomes book donations. Please bring book donations in bags/boxes that you do not want. Bring donations to the Information Desk at least one hour prior to the closing of library business hours; do not leave donated books in return boxes or outside of library doors after hours. Ask the staff to give you a donation receipt for tax purposes (please note that staff cannot provide information as to the value of your donations.) All donations must be made with the understanding that the donated material becomes the property of the library system and that the library has the authority to make whatever disposition of the donated property it deems advisable. The library may sell the item for value and use the proceeds for any purpose appropriate to the library’s mission. All donations must be unconditional, transferring ownership and all rights of ownership to the library. Book donations must be made without reversionary clauses or restrictive covenants.
Although the Library accepts donations, we cannot use or resell:
- Encyclopedias (unless very current)
- Readers’ Digest Condensed books
- Magazines or Pamphlets or any kind
- Textbooks, instructional notebooks or binders
- Extremely dated non-fiction
- Nothing in poor condition (no mold, mildew, water damage)
