Story Safari
Story Safari is a program for kids between the ages of 8-12 where we talk about books, stories, and other interesting stuff. Sometimes we make crafts. Sometimes we make up stories. Here are the stories. I hope you have as much fun reading them as the kids had creating them.
"Dream Vacations"

This month we made up our perfect dream vacations and created our own vacation pictures.
I am going to Hawaii. I am going to go there by a magical dolphin that can fly and it can swim in water. I am going to take YooHoo’s, Capri Suns, candy, chips and sandwiches. For clothes, I am going to take a pink shirt, blue jeans and I will take a black dress with polka dots. I will take my friend Rachel and my cat. For my job, I will work at a waterpark and test water slides. For fun, I will go to the ocean. And I won’t do chores. Before I leave, I will have a big party. We will go surfing, go boogie boarding, go to the water park, eat pizza, chips, garlic bread, cake, snacks and we will have fireworks. – Elena
Once upon a time, I rode my chocolate boat to a chocolate island and it was amazing. So when I got there and there was this giant cookie and I grabbed it and rode down a chocolate hill and it was awesome. So then, I got my jetpack out, put it on my back and flew all over the island. I brought my friend Carolyn to the island and we had some much fun. My job was to be a chocolate tester. Yum! And I eat a chocolate bar while sitting in my chocolate hot tub while playing with my chocolate monkey. And then I left in my chocolate boat to another chocolatey island. - Brooklyn
I will go to California with my mom and daddy, Elena and Shane. I will test Boogie Boards and ride water slides for fun. I will not have to clean my room and I will have a concert with fireworks. – Emily

"Writing for Pets"

This month we wrote stories that we thought pets would like. We even had a real dog visit us so we could read them and see if she liked them. Sue Hopkins brought Myrtle, a Canine Assistant working dog, and it was so much fun. Thanks, Sue and Myrtle!

My dog and I got on my skateboard and Pugsley pushed and he went fast. And this is what he saw. He saw a ninja, and another, and another until there were sixteen and there was a war in the zoo! It was awesome! Eight fell in the hippo pit and eight more fell in the lion cage. And then we went home.

Birdie the Bird flew to Georgia and had a birthday party. After the birthday party, they went to Disneyland.

Hey Marvin –
You’re so cute! What food do you like? Do you like dog food, fruit, pizza, vegetables, ice cream or maybe cookies? I think you like cookies because you almost ate the cookies! Do you like fruit and pizza like me? What do you want for dinner? Woof. How about dog food? Woof, woof, woof. Chomp, chomp, chomp! Bye Marvin!

I love my cat, Fancy. Fancy is cute. She is nice. She sleeps on my pillow. She walks in a mellow way. I love Fancy!

The Arie Cookie Pirates are made of cookies. They sail on the Candy Ocean in their boat made of chocolate fudge. The islands are made of graham cracker sand and the skies are made of bubble gum. The clouds are coconut gum. The pirates want the Golden Box of Cookie Dough and the Golden Chocolate Chip, but they have to go to ocean of Blue Kool Aid to get it. There’s a giant squid who loves chocolate who lives there. The squid attacks and takes a big bite of their ship. The pirates jump into their spare boat and yell, “Gelatin!!” as they draw their candy cane swords. The squid takes a bite of their ship and the pirates use their licorice as whips to keep the squid back. “Yah! Yah!” They pull back on their spoon paddles to get away as fast as they can. “Let’s call the jellyfish!” The pirates all open their mouths and yell, “Ar Ar aarr!” Then, ten million jellyfish rise to the surface and attach to become one giant jellyfish who shoots jelly at the squid “PPPPPPFFFTTTTT!!!” But the squid slices the jelly in half with its tentacles. The squid jumps on the ship and shoots the ship’s cannon. It knocks out the jellyfish! “Oh no!’ Arrr, me heartie!” the pirates yell. “Let’s call Captain Bubble the dolphin!” Captain Bubble comes to the surface and says, “Me bubble gum doesn’t taste good anymore! Do you need some help?” Captain Bubble blows a big bubble that surrounds the squid and the squid floats away into space. “Yahoo!!!” yell the pirates. But then, a twister of blueberries blows the squid back to earth. The electric eels jump up out of the water and zaps it! Zap! Zap! A giant candy steak made of Jolly Ranchers that’s 700 miles wide falls from the sky and smashes the squid. The pirates sail forward, but a swordfish rips apart the bubble gum wrapper sail so they get into their back up submarine that has a big hook and spear gun and they dive under the ocean. The underwater Fun Dip ghosts try to hit the submarine but it goes right through them. The pirates find the treasure but the fall into the hot chocolate volcano and they melted. Poor pirates.
